TEAL-covered supporters for Zali Steggall out-numbered other volunteers four to one at the five poll booths visited by the Northern Beaches Review on Saturday.
The Warringah Independent told ACM she was hoping to visit 20 booths out of 40 in the electorate on the day; with the team travelling in a slogan-decorated electric bus.
She voted at Balgowlah North Public School shortly after 9am. Katherine Deves voted at Manly Vale.
But the Steggall camp happened to be outside the same polling booth in Neutral Bay at the same time as Ms Deves, with a small entourage that awkwardly included Bridie Nolan, the wife of Steggall's ex-husband David Cameron.
Ms Nolan is from outside the area but has been working for Ms Deves. "I find it personally distasteful that my opponent and the Liberal campaign, are using extended members of my separated family," Ms Steggall has previously told the NBR.
Ms Deves told ACM that she was trying to get to as many booths as possible, but would not say how many were on her list.
Voting at the same booth was Peter FitzSimons, who spoke to both politicians, with Ms Deves telling the author and commentator that she did not like his columns and FitzSimons responding that he did not like the impact her politics had on transgender children.
Many voters spoken to by ACM in poll booth queues admitted they still hadn't decided who they were going to vote for. "No one seems very appealing," said one older gentleman.
"I'll close my eyes and pick when I'm in the cardboard booth," laughed a younger man behind him.
They were excited, however, about the democracy sausage, with long queues forming at the volunteer-run sausage sizzles.
Results for the electorate - which was lost by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott to Zali Steggall in the 2019 federal election - are expected to be known about 7.15pm on Saturday.
