St George & Sutherland Shire Leader
The St George and Sutherland shire Leader remains the number one news source in the Southern Sydney region.

Covering a population of nearly 500,000, encompassing three council regions, the Leader was founded in 1960.

The masthead's footprint extends from Sydney's international airport to the Royal National Park.

The print edition remains split in two, tailored to meet the needs of two quite different neighbouring regions.

Since its foundation, the Leader has always prided itself on giving its community a voice.

It has been instrumental in helping to bring about numerous wins for the area, including showing strong support for The Sutherland Hospital at Caringbah's evolution to become the biggest trauma hospital in the state.

It should be noted that St George Hospital is also a renowned research and medical hub.

The Leader's footprint is steeped in history. Its rich indigenous heritage continues to be observed, and today it stands as a microcosm of multicultural Sydney.

This cultural diversity is marked by the numerous community celebrations on the annual calendar - Australia Day at Sutherland and Lunar New Year in Hurstville, are just two that attract thousands.

The region is of course situated on the coast and its beaches are not only utilised by pleasure-seekers, but also many elite sports folk.

It should be noted, the region is also home to two NRL sides - the Cronulla Sharks and St George-Illawarra Dragons.

The Shire and St George regions boast a strong local economy, with a healthy mix of small businesses and major operators.

The Leader is proud of its place as one of the region's trusted institutions.
