MORE than 160 of the world's best surfers have descended on Manly Beach for the Sydney Surf Pro.
The male and female surfers are competing for their place in the World Surf League elite 2023 Championships Tour.
Jordan Lawler and Saxon Reber are among the locals taking part, with well-known Aussie surfers Owen Wright and Julian Wilson also in the line-up.
On Thursday, Wright's bid to win back his WSL Championship Tour spot hit a snag and he was eliminated early.
Wright couldn't make it past the round of 96 on Thursday after finishing third in his four-man heat.
The Olympic bronze medallist posted a two-wave score of 12.80, leaving him just 0.17 short of securing a spot in the round of 48.
The World Longboard Tour was added to the Sydney Surf Pro. It ran from May 16-24 and featured 36 of the world's best longboarders.

"Manly has a long proud history of hosting surfing competitions and we are so excited to once again host the Sydney Surf Pro.
"For locals, it's a chance to see some of the world's best surfers compete on our very own shores - and it's a boon to local businesses who will no doubt appreciate the influx of competitors, support staff and spectators to their cafes, restaurants, bars and shops."
The Sydney Surf Pro runs from May 17-24, with a call on the surf made each morning at around 7am. Find out more.
