TWO northern beaches locations have been chosen to host a street party as part of a Sydney-wide initiative.
The Your Street, Your Party events take place this weekend - Saturday in Fairlight and Sunday in Dee Why - thanks to the 24-Hour Economy Strategy being delivered by Investment NSW.
The family-friendly events feature free roving entertainment, live music and dance performances. Businesses and eateries will also be throwing open their doors as part of the celebration to woo people back out of the COVID-19 slumber.
Fairlight business Pizza at Yours by Emilano is among those keen to celebrate, and owner Emilano Maturo will not only be serving up mouth-watering pizzas, but he'll be hosting a street-side cocktail bar. "I'm expecting a lot of people will be around," he said.
The Phat Brass band will be playing at the Fairlight and Dee Why street parties, and sax player Lachlan Anderson can't wait.

"It feels amazing, we're excited to be back doing what we love [after the COVID lockdowns]," he said. "It'll be a lot of fun and we're playing for a fair amount of time on both days."
Northern Beaches Council mayor Michael Regan said the initiative couldn't have come at a better time, as local businesses continue to recover from the impacts of the COVID pandemic.

"We are thrilled to be a part of Your Street, Your Party which will enliven our neighbourhoods, support our local businesses and bring visitors to the northern beaches," he said.
"Council is working closely with event organisers and local businesses and arranging road closures to allow these exciting street parties to go ahead."
The Fairlight party is on Saturday, with Slip Road closed to traffic for the day so it can be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone.
Dee Why's street party is on Sunday, with The Strand also turned into a pedestrian mall for the day.
The street parties are on 10am-6pm. Free entry.
