"Older age is a significant risk factor for serious illness and death for COVID-19, particularly when combined with significant underlying health conditions," NSW Health said.
So far this year, 46 northern beaches residents who contracted the virus have died.
The number of active virus cases has dropped significantly in the northern beaches in recent weeks. On April 2 there were 10,539 active cases in the LGA, but by April 21 this had dropped to 6190.
The highest number in the LGA so far this year was on January 15, when 11,319 people were infectious with COVID.
At 6pm on Friday, requirements for close contacts of COVID cases to isolate for seven days will be scrapped in NSW.
Close contacts will have to undertake daily rapid antigen tests, wear masks indoors and work from home where possible.
