practising gratitude
Every day I find and pass on random acts of kindness to lift my spirits. Today it was seeing the beautiful little street library newly installed in Collaroy Plateau. Thank you to my wonderful, caring northern beaches community!

Inspired, not converted
Re 'Adventurer Dick Smith on his extraordinary life (so far)', while I don't agree with all his opinions or ideas, he's a good, adventurous and kindly man and philanthropist.

Women wanted
Do you know a local woman, past or present, who deserves recognition? Tell local tech startup SheSaw, and her story could become part of a free Augmented Reality exhibition across the northern beaches opening on International Women's Day 2022, supported by Northern Beaches Council. With less than four per cent of monuments dedicated to women on the northern beaches, SheSaw is using augmented and virtual reality - a more affordable, engaging way to increase women's visibility than permanent statues - to create an AR self-guided exhibit dedicated to local women. It will share their inspiring stories via art, storytelling and music and be accessible via your phone. Email: contact@shesaw.com
Road closure anger
Many ratepayers are infuriated regarding the Dee Why beach closure of two way traffic lanes. My husband has been an intensive care paramedic for over 35 years, and stated there has never been a major traffic incident, resulting in a death or disability, yet mayor Michael Reagan informs us that he's received numerous complaints from people of Dee Why deeply concerned about the hazards of two way traffic adjacent to Dee Why beach.
As a ratepayer of 39 years, I put it to him that he makes these documents available for public viewing. I'm in severe pain due to a workplace injury and all the extra roundabouts are placing me in a state of disabling pain: my pain specialist informed me that it would be prudent to find another route with no speed bumps, roundabouts and potholes. There has been a lot of near misses, both vehicular and pedestrian, at roundabouts and the speeding is a byproduct of angry and frustrated drivers being forced to take alternative routes. Two way traffic should definitely be reinstated and resumed in a timely manner.

Dogs on the loose
There are already so many dogs on and off leads on beaches and on tracks where dogs are forbidden that I wonder if owners will still flout the laws when and if more spaces are made available for them? I fear there will be dogs fouling more areas and leaping on passersby if certain beaches are open to the besotted owners, who already feel entitled to take their animals wherever they want to go.

Back to the future
Re 'Dee Why Public School upgrade urgently needed', nothing much has changed there since I went there back in the late 1960's and saw the moon landing on big black and white TVs set up in the school hall. Certainly agree with the parents that it could do with some further investment.
