Who's been the leading sportsperson on the northern beaches over the past 12 months?
It's hard to go past Manly's Dally M-winning fullback Tom Trbojevic following his out-of-the-world season for the Sea Eagles.
How about Michael Hooper, the Wallabies skipper who has dragged his team from seventh in the world to third with Test wins over France, South Africa, Argentina and Japan?
Manly cricketers Ollie Davies and Jack Edwards did plenty of good things at state and Big Bash League level, while North Curl Curl's Alyssa Healy continues to show the way for Australia's female team.
A huge contingent of peninsula competitors competed at the Tokyo Olympics, with Collaroy Plateau's Brandon Starc recording the best long jump by an Australian in Games history. Remy Siemsen, of Frenchs Forest, made her Matildas debut while Patrick Wood and Calem Nieuwenhof debuted for Sydney FC in the A League.
Then there's a host of athletes doing their stuff on the beach, in the pool, on the water, on basketball and netball courts, at the track and on a bike seat.
Whatever the level or profile, Northern Beaches Council wants to hear from the sporting community ahead of its Australia Day awards where the 2022 Sportsperson of the Year will be announced. Visit the council's website for eligibility criteria and entry form. Nominations close on November 1.
