INFRASTRUCTURE has been washed away, a seawall damaged, and beaches significantly eroded during large swells overnight.
The 7.3 metre swell, along with a two-metre high tide, caused significant damage to all beaches in the local government area, council said.
Queenscliff seawall has been damaged and is being assessed by coastal engineers.

There has been widespread erosion along Collaroy and Narrabeen beaches, with some accessways closed north of Narrabeen Street.
"The private seawalls have not been affected and are not at any risk," a Northern Beaches Council alert said. "The temporary protective construction bund at Wetherill to Clarke Street has been impacted and will be restored as soon as conditions allow."
There is significant damage to access stairs at North Avalon Beach and the area is closed to the public. Long Reef boardwalk has been washed away in sections and is also closed.
"Marine Parade [in Manly] is closed due to dangerous conditions, and the access stairs have been damaged at Bower Lane," the council alert said. "Sydney Water is undertaking works near Bower Lane to fix a burst water main."
Council said beaches at Dee Why, Long Reef, Freshwater and Fishermans have been left with significant erosion, and some access ways are closed
"Curl Curl Lagoon and Manly Lagoon foreshore paths have been impacted," the alert said.
"The swell is remaining higher than expected this afternoon with more damage possible at the high tide later this evening," council said.
People have been advised not to enter taped off areas in the LGA.
Council traffic, coastal and parks crews are monitoring and making areas safe as needed.
