Life on Collaroy Plateau is all about the vista. Perched up high with a bird's-eye view of the ocean and district, it's easy to feel like you're on top of the world.
It's a feeling that Vicky and Ian Walls have become accustomed to since 2012, when they bought their four bedroom home at 90 Blandford Street.
"The views are amazing," says Vicky, who works in finance. "You look at the ocean over Narrabeen and, from the back of the house, you can see Narrabeen Lake."
After moving in, the couple reconfigured the layout, installing a new bathroom and kitchen, and adding a swimming pool. The heated mineral pool also has a cabana so you can laze the day away, in or out of the water.
"I love entertaining in this house," says Vicky.
"There are multiple entertaining areas so you can have visitors over and spill out onto the balcony. Or we can have a bbq while watching the kids in the pool. Everyone can spread out to lots of different areas if you want to. And the back garden is north-facing so it gets the sun all day."
Vicky and Ian have raised their two children, now 10 and 13, in the home and love its proximity to amenities.
"It's a five-minute walk to coffee shops and restaurants and 10 minutes to The Collaroy Hotel," says Vicky.
"I go running around the lake three times a week and there is a real community feel here. All the neighbours are super friendly. During COVID we'd have cocktails on our driveways while social distancing."
The home is spread over three spacious levels and boasts a bottom floor that can work as a teenager's retreat or in-law accommodation.
"It's a great area that's self-contained with its own entrance," says Vicky. "There is a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom. We use that when friends and family come to stay."
