When tech entrepreneur Staffan Wensing purchased 46 Alexandra Crescent, Bayview 14 years ago, it was a humble 1950s weekender. Staffan has since gutted it and transformed it into a dream home for himself, wife and three children, now aged 19 to 25. "We changed everything and extended the house so it's now twice the size that it used to be," says Staffan.
With five bedrooms, four bathrooms and space for three cars, the home has commanding views straight up Pittwater and is next to a pathway that heads straight to the marinas and waterfront cafes.
A competitive swimmer who competes in Masters competitions, Staffan also installed a 25-metre wet-edge pool and spa. "There is also an 800-bottle wine cellar," he says. "We love entertaining and there is lots of space to do that here. We've hosted 80 guests for a sit-down dinner."
The built-in barbecue, fire pit and level yard mean you can enjoy the great outdoors without ever leaving this 1420sqm property on one of Bayview's most sought after cul-de-sacs. Scheduled for auction on December 11 through Iolanda Trovatello of Di Jones Northern Beaches, it has a guide of $7.5 million.
So close to sand and surf
Three-time world champion bodyboarder Ben Player and his wife Jenna are selling their apartment at 3/21-23 Old Barrenjoey Road, Avalon Beach.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit is in the heart of Avalon village and "it's just two minutes to the beach, depending on how many friends you bump into along the way!" says Ben, who renovated the apartment after buying it in 2010.
"We opened it up a lot to have a lot more open space and separate areas. I love the 'borrowed view' that we have. We don't have the maintenance of a garden and yet the outlook is all this beautiful greenery."
The athlete, who runs a business importing bodyboards and soft surfboards, is looking to upsize now that his daughter has turned one. The auction is on December 13 through James Baker of McGrath Pittwater with a guide of $1.575 million.
Coastal living
Beach lovers will be keen to check out 24 Marine Parade, Avalon Beach, which is a mere 250 metres from the sand.
The stunning coastal home has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and space for four cars.
With multiple living spaces, it also boasts a 'lanai' over the carport that can be used as a teenager's retreat or home office.
The home has a modern yet rustic look, complete with whitewashed timber floors, as well as a wide deck and garden firepit.
For sale by private treaty through David Edwards of LJ Hooker Palm Beach, it has a guide of $5-$5.5 million.
Ideal Aussie beach house
When interior designer Kate Manning and her husband David D'Arcy bought 18 Tasman Street, Dee Why in 2015, they could see its potential. "It was fairly rundown and it looked like an army donga," says Kate, who has put her stylish stamp on the property. "I wanted to turn it into the quintessential Australian weatherboard beach house."
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home has space for two cars and has multiple living spaces and ocean views.
"You can see each headland up until Mona Vale. And it's so convenient. It's five minutes' walk to Curl Curl or Dee Why beaches and when there isn't a lot of traffic you can drive to the city in just 15 or 20 minutes.
"Or it's an eight-minute drive to Manly where you can get the ferry." It's scheduled for auction on December 11 with Brendan Pomponio of Belle Property Dee Why with a guide of $3.95 million.
Views all round
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom architect-designed home at 2 Hillcrest Avenue, Mona Vale has been home to retired couple Alan and Waveney Perman for the past 20 years.
"We built it from scratch," says Alan. The home has a unique position that takes in views of the beach, ocean and Pittwater. "You can look south as far as Manly and you can see the top of the Harbour Bridge," he says. "When you look north, you can see as far as Newport reef."
"If you want to head to the beach, you just walk to the end of the street, go down the hill and you're at Mona Vale."
If staying home is more your style, there is a 500-bottle wine cellar and a dumb waiter in case you can't be bothered to use the stairs!
With multiple balconies, you're spoilt for choice as to which view to drink in each day. It's scheduled for auction on December 15 with Kylie Segedin of LJ Hooker Mona Vale with a guide of $4.95 million.
