AFTER years of delays, Freshwater is set to have its own supermarket once again.
The highly-anticipated Supamart IGA will open its doors on Wednesday, December 1 at 10am, with the outlet to provide almost 60 people with a job.
This will be the seventh Supamart IGA for the Karellas Group and their first in the northern beaches, the company's spokesman Vasilli Karellas said.
"This has been eight years in the making," he said. "There's a lot of people waiting for us to open and it's been through no fault of our own, with builders and developers going broke and then the liquidator getting involved."
"It's a relief, we've been focused on this site for the last eight years."
At 1000 square metres, the supermarket may be on the smaller side when compared to retail giants, but Mr Karellas said it will be filled with great produce.

"We'll have a deli and hand-stacked fruit and veg, meat, dairy and grocery, as well as speciality items," he said.
Fittings, shelves and fridges have been on site for months, grocery items are stocked and ready, and the final stages of preparation will be getting in fresh produce ahead of the grand opening
"They only thing missing is the dairy, deli items and anything that's fresh," Mr Karellas said.
Mr Karellas said while the store doesn't currently stock any locally-produced items, the option is there to do so in the future.
Supamart IGA's opening will coincide with the inaugural Festive Freshie, which will be a week-long celebration in the village featuring roving performers, store specials, giveaways and children's arts and crafts.
Community Bank Freshwater marketing manager Chantelle Hoare said the celebration will highlight the village's other new stores and provide some much-need family fun.
"The people of the northern beaches deserve some Christmas cheer, and what better way to start the festivities then supporting these local businesses with family and friends," she said.
"These local businesses are looking forward to welcoming the community instore and with entertainment and activities for the kids Saturday, December 4 will be a fun day out for the whole family."
Supamart IGA has already lent its sponsorship support to Freshwater Surf Club.
