NSW Police: Northern beaches day in the life of local officers

A GLIMPSE inside policing on the northern beaches has been launched this week, with viewers able to see what officers get up to in an average day.

The video is part of a recruitment campaign for NSW Police, and is the first in a series that was filmed across the state.

"In the first episode of this series, we jump in the car with Max and Dan for a day out in Sydney's Northern Beaches to see what they get up to," a NSW Police spokeswoman said.

During the video a film crew follows the constables during their 12-hour shift, which starts with their arrival at Dee Why Police Station at 5.10am.

Scenes show the officers attend traffic incidents in Dee Why and Frenchs Forest, a form of demand in Curl Curl, a burst water main in Freshwater, a concern for welfare in Frenchs Forest, and a domestic violence incident in Elanora Heights.

The officers spoke of how they wanted to become a police officers because of the opportunities and challenges that were on offer.

"That's the best bit about the job, you just don't know what you're getting into," Constable Max said.

"It wasn't a typical day, but at the same time it kind of was cause it was the unpredictability, and that's what general duties is you never know what you're in for at the start of the day. Zero to 100."

The NSW Police recruitment campaign will continue and feature a number of specialist units from across the state.
