Why can't we use a renewed dining voucher system to incentivise people to get vaccinated? NSW needs to put the dollars back into the community. While we cannot go and dine in a restaurant or cafe, we can order takeaway, which the vouchers can cover and help local businesses. Not only is getting vaccinated the right thing to do to get back to work and back to normal, it is right thing to do for the health of our community. We get our kids vaccinated so they don't catch or spread diseases as well as to enable them to attend preschool or school. We don't complain about this. What makes Covid vaccinations any different?

'Tension, indecision on Ingleside plan' (August 11), highlights the need for both local and state governments to demand of the federal government a change in the direction of the economy, from the endless growth economy to the steady state economy. This overall lack of vision, sense of direction and planning confines us to pathway of ever increasing social discord.

Re your piece from MP Rob Stokes on pressure to keep children at home ('Students told they should stay home by some teachers', August 6), our school emails at least once a week reminding us to not send children to school. As a small business owner myself, I've been doubling down to homeschool my daughters but it's not easy to balance both.

Are you tired of the gloom of lockdown? Is our current predicament dampening your soul? Let's brighten up the night and put some sparkle into our horizons and Light up the Lockdown! Grab a string of fairy lights from your Christmas box and adorn your place with them - your balcony, letterbox, tree, whatever you can light up. And if your neighbour doesn't have any of their own, why not leave some in a box for them to use? Don't overdo it - we are not allowed to have crowds gathering to admire your colossus. But let's bring some light and hope back into Sydney and inspire each other together.

Why would you print such an article about the uneducated Liberal Democrat candidate, John Ruddick (Warringah candidate stands by protest attendance, August 4)? He turned up at an illegal gathering and endangered the health of many thousands of people by doing so. I realise we live in an era of free speech etc. but, in the middle of the current crisis, his opinions are not helpful. We can only hope that he never gets a seat in parliament.

IVANHOE PARK DEVELOPMENT
If you want to play a part in the proposed development of Ivanhoe Park, now is the time. After gaining State Heritage Listing for the whole of Ivanhoe Park in 2019, Northern Beaches Council, in consultation with the community, developed a Masterplan and Plan of Management that was adopted by Council in May and agreed to by Heritage NSW in July. You can view the project information at yoursay.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au, submissions close on September 19 and an online information session will be held on September 2 from 6-7pm.
