COVID lockdown: Northern beaches takeaway to support local business

WE'RE midway through another lockdown and if you're missing a meal at your favourite local and sick of cooking at home, after all who isn't, northern beaches eateries are serving up their best for you to take home.

Missing a juicy steak or ribs? What about tacos? Or a whole rack of lamb with pumpkin and goats cheese salad, and beer battered potatoes? Don't get us started on those cocktails and local brews from our budding breweries.

Cafes, restaurants, breweries and bars right across the northern beaches have spades of ingenuity when it comes to takeaway, all you've got to do is pick which one to go to.

InSitu - Sydney Road, Manly

Another week in lockdown just means another week with a takeaway cocktail in hand... right? InSitu is open for your favourite pizzas, paellas and drinks.

There's also:

  • All-day brekkie avo smash or a B&E roll plus a coffee for $10
  • Fresh paella $15 for veggie or chicken & chorizo.
  • InSitu pizza $15 for margherita or prosciutto & rocket.

Don't forget a takeaway cocktail for $15 per cocktail, shaken and ready to enjoy. There's also mulled wine to warm up your Manly to Shelly walk. Local tinnies $7 for any of your favourite local brews.

They're open 9am-8pm Friday and Saturday, and 9am-5pm on Sunday.

Frenchies Brasserie - Kalang Road, Elanora Heights

Head chef Jeremy Pace and the team have designed such amazing meals that you'll forget the lockdown is even on.

There's a weekly three-course menu as well as sides and snacks, simply heat and serve when desired. Order via the 'heat at home' link. On this week's menu is:

  • Entree - Pumpkin soup served with French baguette
  • Main - Chateaubriand (beef fillet) and gratin dauphinois
  • Dessert - Mousse au chocolat

All your favourite Frenchies wines, beers and spirits, and also Frenchies' famous coconut margarita, are available takeaway too.

Moonlight Socialhouse - Ocean Street, Narrabeen

Juicy restaurant quality steaks, BBQ skewers and smoked chorizo, you definitely won't go hungry this lockdown.

Moonlight Social House is also serving up deluxe cocktails in 500ml can (five cocktails) for only $36, which works out at $7.20 a cocktail. You've got the choice of: Espresso martini with Single O coffee; premium margarita; mango tango; or coconut lychee martini.

Muchacha Mexican - North Curl Curl and Narrabeen

Missing your margaritas? What about quesadillas, burritos and nachos?

You can still have the tastiest California Mexican cuisine while in lockdown at Muchacha Mexican.

If you still haven't tried their homemade margarita mix (just add tequila) do yourself a favour, it's just $14 a bottle available with your takeaway and home delivery.

Jah Bar - The Strand, Dee Why

Spanish tapas, paella, ceviche, halloumi baklava, zucchini flowers, cauliflower salad and chorizo, oh and of course jalapeno margaritas and horchata coladas and a bottle of red.

We may be in lockdown, but that's definitely no reason to be missing your favourite food.

Jah Bar is open for takeaway from 12pm Wednesdays to Fridays and from 9am Saturdays and Sundays. They're serving up their regular menu with the addition of the popular burritos and bacon and egg rolls.

Bucketty's Brewery - Orchard Road, Brookvale

Forget sitting down at this popular Brookvale brewery, grab your car and drive straight though. This genius idea has become a 'must do' since lockdowns started.

Bucketty's Brewery has cleared out their furniture to make way for your car to drive through, pick up your favourite locally brewed beers and some tasty food from the food truck. On offer to keep your belly satisfied are tasty tacos, rolls, loaded fries and rice bowls, and if you brought your kiddies along there's chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers and BBQ chicken wings.

The drive through is open from 12pm-8pm every day during lockdown.

The Pottery Cafe - Pittwater Road, Collaroy

From spicy Thai pumpkin soup in handy 'grab and go' pots to pulled pork delights that'll make your mouth water and it's all takeaway.

There is nothing quite like freshly baked treats and the daily bakes are just walking out the door. One of the tastiest delights to come out of the oven recently was the Nutella and biscoff brownies - they were a chunk of gooey heaven.

Le Bayview Cafe Bistro - Pittwater Road, Bayview

If you haven't tried out Le Bayview yet now could be the perfect time. This modern Australia bistro opened up on the edge of Pittwater earlier this year.

While you can't sit down and enjoy the views during lockdown, pop in to grab some of their amazing food with a French twist.

Try the delicious pork knuckle with French potato 'dauphinois gratin', sauerkraut with juniper berries and red wine jus. Take it away heated and ready to eat, or take it home for a late lunch or diner - they'll give you an instruction card on how to enjoy your meal as if it was served in the restaurant.

There early? Homemade almond croissants come out of the oven fresh every morning.

Wildwater - The Strand, Dee Why

From mouthwatering seafood options to awesome ribs and steak that's guaranteed to put a smile on your dial.

Order the famous slow-cooked ribs in a special marinade, flame-grilled to perfection and then basted in the signature "lekker baste".

Gurtag has been serving up the tastiest curries and breads to the northern beaches since 1996.

Warm, yummy, immune boosting curries are served up hot and fresh from Bombay beef to butter chicken, rogan Josh to a Goa prawn curry.

This northern beaches institution has been keeping us well fed for the past 20 years and they're certainly not letting COVID get in the way of serving up great meals.

One of the amazing takeaway options is a whole rack of lamb for two, with pumpkin and goats cheese salad, roasted cashews, beer battered potatoes for $55.
