PROPERTY OF THE WEEK

Manly house of the week is sure to be snapped up

House of the week sits high on the hill

Buyers have a unique opportunity to own a grand home at 13 Quinton Road, Manly. First built in 1911 for one of the area's prominent solicitors, this Arts and Crafts style Federation property has been the family home to Jamie and Kylee Davidson and their two children for the past 12 years.

The tri-level home features seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and space for four cars.

It's on Western Hill and, according to Jamie, is just a seven-minute walk to the beach and a 10-minute walk to the ferry.

Jamie, who works in the tech industry, says: "During the Depression, the house was converted to seven separate units. Then it was totally refurbished in 2006 to create a main residence and three units. When we bought it, we converted one of those units into a teenager's retreat."

Situated on a double block, the two remaining self-contained studio flats feature separate entrances and have been a handy additional source of income for the couple.

Kylee, who works in professional services, says the view is one of the most magical aspects of the house. "As soon as you walk up the stairs, it just hits you," she says about the view of Manly and Shelly Beach on one side, the harbour on the other and even Bondi Junction in the distance. "It's far enough to be away from the heart of Manly so that it's quiet but close enough so you can easily walk to the restaurants and cafes."

Now with kids getting older, the couple is looking to downsize. Kylee says: "I've never felt like I've owned this house. I've always felt like a custodian of this beautiful grand old lady. I feel honoured to have lived here and now it's time to let somebody else enjoy it."
