Celebrating Norman Rich
Prolific letter writer, excellent raconteur and acclaimed hydraulics engineer Norman Rich will celebrate his hundredth birthday next Wednesday, February 24, with a small party. For the last 20 years, the longtime Beaches resident has lived at the Newport Beach Village. They tell us he is very articulate and has a great memory, including of his post-war years building dams in the Hindu Kush.
Colour her happy
St Luke's Grammar School Biology and Chemistry teacher Judy Breedon (@escape_photo_gallery) loves exploring her 'hood and finding shots like this early morning beauty of the Narrabeen ocean pool. "My family moved to Warriewood four years ago and I suddenly found myself in a photographer's paradise!" she says. "I often show the students my photographs to inspire them about the majesty of the natural world around us."
She adds: "My passion for photography started when I was a teenager using an old camera which required a hand-held light meter to read the light to set the aperture and shutter speed. I enjoy spending much of my free time, camera in hand, either by the lake or the beach, and on the many rock platforms at sunrise or sunset for the golden hour."
