Bungan Head Beauty
Jetsetters Jon and Nicky McCall still call Australia home but have spent the last couple of decades flitting between China, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei. Now living in Singapore, they have listed 68 Bungan Head Road, Newport, which they originally bought and leased to tenants 17 years ago, before transforming it into a luxury family home. "Everything is new from the letterbox to the rear fence," says Jon. "We stripped it back to a concrete shell and started again." The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home has space for four cars and stunning views of Bungan Beach. The tri-level home has been a passion project for the couple. "My wife and I are seriously anally retentive so every single thing in the house was carefully considered. The colour scheme also mirrors the colour of the beach so when you're looking at it, the beach flows right into the house."
It also has a little nod to history as the beautiful back fence was constructed by stonemasons with stone from the nearby 100-year-old Bungan Head Castle.
It's listed for auction on March 6 through James Baker of McGrath Pittwater, with a price guide of $5 million.
If you love nature, 26 Dendrobium Crescent, Elanora Heights is set over two hectares designed for resort style living. Alex Berry was 14 when her family first moved into the home and she now lives there with her husband and baby. "It's very relaxed and private," she says. "You hear the sound of birds instead of the constant flow of cars. There's so much to do outdoors for the kids, it's great for entertaining by the pool or you can have a quiet drink down by the cliff. There is a 180-degree view of bushland."
The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home has a double garage, including a downstairs suite with separate access. It's open for expressions of interest closing March 4 through Joshua Perry of Belle Property Dee Why, with a guide of $3.3 million.
This five-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 6 Jacquelene Close, Bayview is the epitome of Hamptons coastal living. Owners Keenan and Sarah Bunning bought it in 2006, then undertook a major renovation. "We transformed it, every room is different," says Keenan, who works in funds management. "We've added bedrooms, removed inside walls and put in a garden.
Along with his wife Sarah, who is a director of marketing, it's been home to his three kids, aged 11 to 15. The master retreat has a vaulted ceiling and makes up the entire top floor. "It's about 40 square metres in itself and it's a really relaxing place to hang out. I often do yoga there."
With multiple decks, Keenan says people will also appreciate the attention to detail. "My wife took a year off to manage the renovation. She had been dreaming about it for years and picked all the individual pieces and elements." It's listed for auction on March 6 through Ryan Petrie of LJ Hooker Mona Vale, with a $2.4 million guide.
When Luisa and Sam Panetta moved into 18 Cutler Road, Clontarf in 2003, they knew they had some work to do. Luisa says: "It was a jungle. We did a massive amount of work, excavated the backyard, put in a swimming pool, made a three-car garage and added bedrooms."
It's now a four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with views over Chinaman's Beach The couple has four children, aged 14 to 20, and are now semi-retired after Sam built his business as a wholesaler at Flemington. With multiple decks and balconies, as well as an expansive courtyard, it's an ideal family home with space for entertaining. It's up for auction on March 6 through Sam Raso of Cunninghams Balgowlah, with a $4 million price guide.
Louise Souter moved to Scotland Island 42 years ago into what was then a simple single level boatshed. Over the years, Louise and her husband built on their north east facing property to accommodate raising two children, now adults. She's selling her three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in this unique community. "My favourite spot is at the front of the house. The sun is pouring in and you are six feet from the water. You can lie there with a book or look out at Pittwater. It's a great lifestyle here. You can catch fish from the kitchen window and sit on the jetty, having a drink with your neighbours."
It's listed for $2,550,000 to $2,750,000 through Murray Bakker of Stone Avalon Palm Beach.
