FOR some people it's all about the sweet stuff. Those tasty treats, maybe a little bit of gelato sprinkled with fresh fruit, that bring a smile to a dull day.
Nestled in The Corso you'll discover the Little Shop of Waffles and while it's only been open since January 1, it's already attracted a loyal following - from breakfast devotees to those looking for a decadent dessert.

Leave your expectations of what you think waffles are at the door, because these ones are different. Bubble waffles are lighter and airier and were a popular street food in Hong Kong until four northern beaches friends put their own spin on them.

Alex Potter, Irene Zalami and Naomi Mourra and Saski Schuck spent a lot of time researching and taste testing before they opened the doors and they say that fresh produce was essential.
To start with the batter is made in store and the waffles are cooked fresh for each order, then there's the hard decision of what to put on them.
There's already a few crowd favourites, including the pavlova, lemon buzz, chocberry and fruitylicious, while some people are making their own recipes up.
"One of our signature bubble waffles is the pavlova, it's got pavlova meringue, pavlova gelato and seasonal fruit like strawberries, kiwi, mango and a drizzle of passionfruit juice," Ms Zalami said.
We tried the fruitylicious bubble waffle which has gelato that's so tasty you wouldn't realise that it's actually vegan. It comes topped with fresh fruit.
We also tried out the chocberry and this is definitely one for the chocolate lovers. The rich, creamy chocolate icecream in the waffle was topped with an Oreo biscuit a KitKat and sliced strawberries.
The pom pom, drizzled in chocolate sauce, was also served up to us. Think waffles are only for an afternoon treat or dessert ? Think again. For those who haven't been here yet, a pom pom is three bite-sized bubble waffles that are the perfect accompaniment to a cuppa.
Bubble waffles also come in a few different flavours - plain, cinnamon and choc drop are among them, and oh and did we mention there's also gluten free and vegan versions too.
- The Little Shop of Waffles is at shop 7/9, 7 The Corso
